Emily & Austin

My wedding day was perfectly imperfect and I want to tell you why:

We planned our wedding in 45 days. Not because we had to, but because we wanted to. Being a wedding planner and getting married between the months of March and November wasn’t possible, but Austin and I were so in love and with December  already upon us, with all my vendors available we said, “let’s do it!” Who could have known the whirlwind we were in for?

I chose my vendors because I knew I could trust them. I gave them a little glimpse of what I wanted but for the most part, just paid them and said: “I trust you.” Yes, even with decor and flowers! I didn’t get mock-ups or very many pictures, but I picked my vendors because I knew the work they do would align with who I am as a person and guess what? Everything was just as imagined.

Everything from letterpress invitations from Jupiter and Juno, the florals from Old Forest Farm, to hair and make-up from Leslie White –everything was impeccable. I often refer these vendors to my brides because their work ethic, professionalism, and style make the wedding day easy and comfortable. I knew without blinking an eye that Ashley Wittmer would capture our day, and The Conrad Indianapolis would host our event.

So on December 15, 2017, twenty-eight of our closest friends and family came to witness our wedding. I wish with all my heart that we would have had 29 guests; Thirty days prior to the wedding, Austin’s father passed away. We hadn’t realized that our marriage would start in mourning, but it only made us stronger. My father, who has been battling an advanced form of muscular dystrophy for the past couple of years was able to walk me down the aisle, a feat we weren’t sure could happen.

In the end, my bridesmaids didn’t wear matching dresses, the groomsmen were mismatched, we had late wedding guests, and I never lost all that weight I wanted–but it didn’t matter. What mattered is at the end of the day I was married to Austin Patrick Foster, the true love of my life. The wedding was perfect.

I didn’t stress over the color of my linens, placement of flowers, or timeline. I hired people I could trust and I knew that nothing could come in the way of marrying my (now) husband.

Enjoy the pictures and some fun facts about the day:

1. I walked down the aisle to Isn’t She Lovely by Stevie Wonder.

2. Our first dance was You Make Me So Very Happy by Blood, Sweat, and Tears.

3. I ate a bagel, donuts, and eggs the morning of the wedding. I wasn’t afraid to eat!

4. My wedding shoes cost $6.30 on clearance.

5. It was freezing cold taking pictures and I couldn’t keep lipstick off my teeth.

6. All our guests stayed until the end of the event and danced the night away to 70s disco music.
